Love is in the air, or at least in the titles. This week I am reading Only Love Can Break Your Heart // Ed Tarkington and The Love That Split the World // Emily Henry.
I recently finished The Revenant and The 5th Wave and needed to read something different. These two hit the mark. I’m about 60 pages in to each and I have no complaints. I’m traveling to Chicago this week and I’m hoping to get quite a bit of reading done on the plane and in the hotel. I’m also anticipating being cold. The high tomorrow is 17. Brrr.
I don’t know that I have any Chicago readers out there, but just in case, any suggestions? I’ll be in the Northbrook area.
I’ll be very anxious to hear your thoughts re the Tarkington. I adored the first half and enjoyed the second, but it didn’t carry the emotion all the way home for me. It was really well written, I enjoyed the language all the way through.

Hi Rory! I live in Lake Bluff, about 25 minutes from Northbrook. I work at an independent bookstore, Lake Forest Bookstore. There’s a nice indie in Northbrook, the Book Bin. Frankly, there’s not much going on in Northbrook. There’s a fancy shopping mall with a movie theater. And it’s cold here now — bring your warmest clothes!

I’m there primarily to see the Chicago Botanic Gardens, so I’ll be at a hotel right beside there. I’ll look for The Book Bin though!

Actually, if you’re staying close to the Botanic Garden, you’ll be near the Book Stall in Winnetka — a really lovely store. Enjoy the Botanic Garden — it’s one of my favorite places on the North Shore.

I have Only Love Can Break Your Heart in my reading stack as well. Looking forward to it. Oddly, when I receive the ARC, I couldn’t find much about it or the author at all… even Goodreads didn’t have the goss – kind of nice starting a book knowing nothing.

How was the fifth wave? Should I read it?

I would say no. It’s okay, but quite long for something that is mediocre (in my opinion).

OK. I’ll move it to the bottom of the list.

How long are you in Northbrook? I love the Botanical Gardens and grew up right around there. Do you still have my cell number? :))

The Love that Split the World is getting a lot of buzz around it, and I was so tempted to request an ARC but remembered my growing TBR. Tarkington is definitely on my list to read. Such great choices for reading this week!
