Happy Holidays (and Christmas) everyone! As Christmas falls on a Tuesday this year, this week’s list is a freebie (as hosted by The Broke and The Bookish). Since today is meant to be merry and bright, what better topic than the top ten funniest books I’ve ever read.
In no particular order:
10. Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding
9. A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail by Bill Bryson
8. Crooked Little Vein by Warren Ellis
7. The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde
6. Private Lives and Hay Fever by Noel Coward
4. Straight Man by Richard Russo
3. Three Men in a Boat: (To Say Nothing of the Dog) by Jerome K. Jerome
2. The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt
1. A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole

Merry Christmas! I haven’t read A Walk in the Woods, but I’ve loved Bryson’s humor in his other books.

A Walk in the Woods is good, I work in a nature-y library and managed to slip this one into the collection.

I don’t get to read near enough funny books. Great choice for your topic!

Thanks! I don’t read a look of funny books, so the ones I read tend to stick with me.

Great list – certainly agree on Fielding and Bryson (have you read Downunder?). I think my list of funny books would have to include some Jonathan Tropper and David Sedaris.

Would you believe I have not read any Sedaris? He’s constantly on my TBR list, but never actually gets read. I haven’t read Bryson’s Australia book (has a ridiculous US title), but I did read his UK one which was good.

Nice list – I read a couple of these last year, but I’ll need to check out some of the others. My list this week is Christmas gift books.

It assaults the senses, it’s great if you’re into that type of book. He has a new one coming out in Jan that I’m excited to read.
