It’s time for the (tenth!) Literary Giveaway Blog Hop. This is an event taking place from Saturday February 8th until (and including) Wednesday February 12th. It’s hosted by Leeswammes,
So what do you need to do enter the giveaway? All that you need to do it leave a comment. I would very much appreciate it if you would follow me on Twitter, Facebook, or via whichever blog reader is your preference, but it’s not necessary. A winner will be randomly selected on Thursday, February 13th. The giveaway is open to anyone.
The winner will be able to choose from ONE of the following:
-A book that has been reviewed on this blog
-A $20 gift card to Amazon
-One Penguin Hardcover Classic (see full list here, they’re very pretty)
As I said, all that you need to do to enter is to leave a comment on the blog. To avoid overly generic comments (and to make my comment moderation more fun), you could tell me what is the worst book you’ve ever read.
Thanks for participating!
Linky List:
I don’t know which one worse–Catch-22 or As I Lady Dying. Probably As I Lay Dying because it was so weird. I am not a William Faulkner fan. And Catch-22–all I remember is that it was the military and a scene where naked ladies were walking around.

The Lord of Flies – disgusting, creepy and had not plot to speak of (a bunch of boys stuck alone on an island do some bad things and then they’re rescued, the end).
Also, Wuthering Heights – the main female character is a wimp (too week even for those times) fixated on an abusive idiot. I love historical classics like Jane austen or Charles Dickens, but I barely finished this one.

I didn´t like Tolkiens Hobbit, though everyone says it´s good. My favorite book is The Notebook 🙂

Ha ha, the worst book! First of all, thanks for joining the Hop. It’s great to have you. I hope you are having fun.
Now, the worst book, that’s difficult. Some of the books I don’t finish are books that others find really good, such as Life After Life by Kate Atkinson. Other times, a book really angers me, but then it did something with me, so that’s not bad, either. Oh, there’s Frequent Traveller by Pandora Poikilos. That was so ridiculous and unbelievable, I stopped after 30 pages or so. 🙂

The worst, huh? A while back for an A-Z titles challenge, I found this book called X-Treme Dating…a cheesy romance…yup, that was pretty darn bad.

The worst book I’ve ever read was called The Boys in the Trees. How I made it through the whole thing, I don’t even know. I think I was just so desperate for something to make sense or happen that I hung on as long as I could lol. Thank you!

The worst book I’ve read… Normally, if I’m really not enjoying a book I don’t finish it. But I do recall finishing and loathing The Scarlet Letter a long time ago. Everything about that book depresses me. I’ve started but not finished a number of books I disliked more, but that’s probably the “worst” I’ve finished.
Thanks for hosting this!

Oohhh – nothing like putting us on the spot! I really, really hated THE ALMOST MOON by Alice Sebold, which surprised me because I enjoyed The Lovely Bones and think this woman is ultra talented. The main character was just so unlikable — and the story took place within HOURS … Not good, for me personally. I’ve come to realize I just don’t like books that take place within the span of a day or less.

The worst book? Hmmmm. That’s really a hard one. There was this really stupid book read called Ohh.. Gods Are Online! Yuck, that book could easily count as the worst book I’ve read. Thank you for the giveaway!

HARDCOVER CLASSICS! Be still my heart! I love those editions to bits 😀 The worst book ever? Whew…it’s been a long time since I’ve read one that bad. How about I tell you that Rita Supety’s newest, Out of the Easy, didn’t match up to her debut. Not even close 😦
Thanks for the giveaway!

Hmm… PS I Love You is one of the worst books I’ve read. The writing was so bad; I swear, characters ‘giggled’ every 4 pages.

Please count me in for this wonderful giveaway — I appreciate you making it available to literary fiction fans who read this blog! The worst book I’ve ever read in literary fiction (to keep things interesting) has got to be Don DeLillo’s *White Noise*. Thanks again! Cheers – K

Worst book I’ve read? Too many! But the most recent was Mr Muo’s Travelling Couch. The writing was really good, which is too bad because the protagonist was super unlikeable that I couldn’t care less about his story and I couldn’t force myself to go past the first few pages.

The worst book I’ve ever read… Now that’s a tough one, but I’d go with The Autumn of the Patriarch because I was never a big fan of sentences that run for 2-3 pages! 😀 Thanks for the giveaway! 🙂

Worst book? That’s an unusual one. I think I’ll go with one on the most disappointing ones for me : Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I bought and read it on the day of its release and then wondered why I had wasted so many years of my life on what ended up essentially as a series for kids.

The worst book I ever read was a self-pub memoir in which the author described love scenes between his parents – so incredibly icky! My least favorite classic is Paradise Lost – it just bored me to tears.

Worst book I’ve ever started, or worst book I’ve ever finished? Because I’ve started quite a few (e.g. Twilight) and not gotten past the first chapter.
The worst book I’ve ever finished was probably one of the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books from the back of my grade 4 classroom. I’d read anything in class just to avoid paying attention to that teacher.

There are 2 horrible books that I have read. First one being Lord of the Flies. The only reason I liked it later in life was I understood The Simpson’s parody, that had parts of the book. I have decided that I think it is a boy’s book though.
The 2nd book had to the be “The boy in the Striped Pajamas”. I usually love books about WWII. This book was just so hard to believe, I could not stand it.
