Lately.

Evening Walk

MakingChipotle Corn Chowder. It’s good.
Drinking: Ice water. Exciting times around her.
Reading: Murder in Mesopotamia // Agatha Christie.
Coveting: This room, designed by Emily Henderson. I now want to paint a room in my house navy blue.
Listening: Bad Girls // Tennis
Watching: Hope Floats. Who doesn’t like Harry Connick Jr.?
Smelling: Freshly cut grass.
Wishing: For this – wishes do come true. A drama about the “tragedy and passion” of the difficult lives of the Bronte family is to appear on BBC One, written and directed by Last Tango In Halifax author Sally Wainwright.
Enjoying: The fact that my book club doesn’t meet again until August. I shouldn’t be this excited to not be reading, but it’s the obligation of it.
Avoiding: The Anthropologie store. It’s having an extra 20% off sale right now. Because in the words of Anna Kendrick, “Yes, but maybe if I HAD these tiny whimsical bowls I WOULD throw dinner parties…” – every girl in Anthropologie ever.
Loving: Far From the Madding Crowd // Thomas Hardy. Though I’m reading it in fits and starts.
Needing: A vacation. I’m taking a mini road trip to Devil’s Tower soon.
Feeling: Better. After 6 months of feeling like I might be carrying some sort of permanent plague, I’m feeling pretty good.
Wearing: ALL the flannel. Still. I don’t have a thing, but if I did it would be flannel. Angela Chase style. (Yeah, I’m never changing this answer.) It’s rained 19 of 20 days so far this month. Picture above is from an evening walk. I got to wear my wellies. We need not discuss why I own wellies, yet live in Colorado.
Wanting: A pair of clogs, but a coworker told me I’d look old in them…
Hiking: South Mesa Trailhead (Here, for the curious. Or local.)

How is everyone out there? Anyone else thrilled about the new X-Files? Because I cannot wait.

  1. I am also thrilled about the new X-Files, although I had to giggle a little when I found out Duchovny is singing now and has actually put out an album. I saw him perform one of the songs on the Today show and it was hard for me to take it totally seriously.

Devil’s Tower! The Close Encounters geek in me is freaking out about this (in a good way). Haha!

  2. I love this post. Chipotle does have good food, don’t they? My sister-in-law works for them and I’m always impressed with the efforts they make regarding their food. Ice water – have you tried adding things? I’ve just started doing this after coming across some simple adds. Last night muddled blackberries, mint and lime. Not quite working out, but I suppose practice is in order. LOVE navy blue rooms. I have dark paint on most of my walls (deep burgundy, chocolate brown, etc…) but have never gone navy. You’re reinspiring me. Still thinking of Tom Hardy the actor. Glad you’re feeling better. Tell coworker to stuff it! Have a great weekend!

    1. Chipotle is truly my four year old son’s favorite place.

I do try adding things from time to time. I do mint and basil fairly regularly, and sometimes get really exciting and add lemon. But really, I haven’t done anything too exciting yet. I really like water.

I have a lot of deep grays, almost black in my house. I like it, but now I want to fit navy in somewhere.

      1. That’s funny, the kids in our family could also eat there every day. I suppose it’s a good thing they prefer “better” fast food.

I like water as well, but have just become interested in trying different things to jazz it up. So far, not much success.

Sounds like your color palette tastes are similar to mine. If you do a navy first, I look forward to seeing it!

  3. One of my good friends painted her living room navy blue…which I thought was a horrible idea when she told me what she was planning to do, but it looks great! That’s why she just started her own decorating business and I blog about books 🙂
