Looking for a light, fun, and entertaining read? Look no further than Meg Cabot’s Insatiable. This novel is best described at cute and contemporary. There is not a lot of depth to it, but it is a good airplane or beach read. If literature had nutritional value, this would be cotton candy (fun? yes. enriching? no.). Insatiable offers a fun, it not particularly refreshing take on vampires and their slayers.
Meena Harper is a psychic. She can look at any human and know when and how they will die. That is why it is so refreshing when she meets Lucien. She gets zero premonitions from him. Because…he is already dead, Meena just doesn’t know it yet. She soon learns the truth from the not unattractive Alaric Wulf, vampire hunter. The truth doesn’t change her feelings for Lucien, only increases her desire to warn him of what is happening around her. Will she be able to stop him and other vampires from hurting those around her? At what personal cost?
Bottom line, Insatiable is above average vampire chick lit, 3.5/5. If you’re a Meg Cabot fan or if this is a genre you usually read (I’m generally unfamiliar with it, so if you’d have any recommendations – that would be great!), I think you’ll like it.
