Lately.

Hiking in Colorado

MakingCreamy Ham Potato and Corn Chowder. It’s SO good.
Drinking: Mexican Coke. It’s my weakness.
Reading: The Heart Does Not Grow Back by Fred Venturini
Coveting: This Bob Dylan print.
Listening: Shut Up and Dance / Walk the Moon
Watching: The Americans.
Smelling: Illume Enamelware Candle Tin in Vetiver Cedar.
Wishing:  For world peace? Only kidding, I would settle for a little inner peace though.
Enjoying: The lovely autumn weather. I unpacked my scarves this week, it was glorious.
Loving: These turquoise earrings from Elephantine Etsy shop.
Needing: To paint my dining and craigslist some extra furniture.
Feeling: A wee bit down lately, as we move into winter.
Wearing: ALL the flannel, including this scarf. It might snow tomorrow.
Wanting: Time Out Of Mind
Bookmarking: This Instagram project.
Aiming: To find a good direction and pace for this blog. It is where life and literature intersect, so I thought this post would be as good of a place to start as any.

How are you, dear readers? Please tell me you’ve been more productive than me lately.

  1. OOh, nice post Rory, great format. The Heart Does Not Grow Back is an amazing title. On a similar topic, I just got Davy Rothbart’s book My Heart is an idiot. Is there something about the direction and pace of the blog you’re not feeling happy with?

    1. I think it’s my inconsistency more than anything else. I’m a planner, so I like to have things organized, but I just haven’t been able to do that here.

  2. Oh my goodness, that soup sounds amazing. I am so with you on the flannel/plaid. I just bought the softest plaid scarf, and I have barely taken it off in the last two weeks. It goes with everything because most of my clothes are neutrals, and it’s so comfy!

  3. I’m making that soup. Oh yes I am.

You know, I tend to turn my nose up at “Currently” and “Lately” posts but I always read and often comment, which is more than I can say for other types of posts, so: off my high horse and gonna do one.

    1. I did too, for the longest time! But then I realized the same thing. If I like a blog, I’m always curious about the blogger too. As long as they’re not too often…

  4. Ignoring the fact that I have sometimes sent you messages saying “Where are you?!” “What’s happening?!”, does it matter if you’re an irregular blogger? I don’t think so… Whatever you do, it must make you feel happy (as happy as a spring lamb).

PS. I probably need those earrings in my life. Turquoise and aqua are my favourite colours after yellow.

    1. No. And I doubt it bothers anyone but me. I’m just such a planner that is goes against my nature to just let to lie.

I will be as happy as a spring lamb…come spring. Winter and I are not friends. Turquoise is my favorite jewelry!

  5. Like you, I get strange about not being able to plan and feel off if I’m not following a set schedule with my blog, but I know from the other side of the fence that it doesn’t bother me on the blogs I read. I understand that life happens, too…so, I’m glad to see you back in any form.
